Dear Anon,
Under Shapes of Form Feng Shui what is more important is that:
1. There should be clear space at the frontage of the house. (The bird or red phoenix)
2. There should be a solid backing at the back of the house i.e. tortise.
These two aspects of Feng Shui are two very important factors.
So which ever a house is facing where best have the above. Thus no matter if it is a `west' or other facing house; it should have the above.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
