Thanks Cecil for your prompt reply. The land site that I have mentioned have not other hilly formations. The river is sandwitched between a valley which has housing on both sides and the land site that I mention sits on the top of one side.
The slope on the back towards the river is approximately 60 degress and to me the river is relatively stright except that it is bowing slightly to my side of the valley.
Also the house number is number 4, is that inauspecious in feng shui terms?
